The record behind the answer

KPV therapy sources, opened and sorted

The answers on this site come from an FDA staff report, FDA’s list of approved drugs, searches for studies in people, and medical journal papers. Under each answer, tap “Open” to see its records.

The absence of a human study matters more than the volume of claims around it.

What each kind of source can answer

FDA’s list of approved drugs tells you whether something is approved. A mouse paper answers what happened in mice. Neither can stand in for a study in people.

Identity

What is KPV?

KPV is a peptide made from three protein building blocks. The same three pieces, in the same order, sit at the end of alpha-MSH, a hormone the body makes that helps darken skin and calm inflammation. Researchers looked at KPV because in lab work it kept the calming effect without the skin-darkening one. Coming from a natural hormone does not make it safe.

Price

Is there an official price?

No approved KPV product exists as of September 2026, and so there is no maker list price and no government KPV price.

Open the price basis

No approved product means no drug maker has set an official price. This guide does not use business advertisements as an official price source.

Research, kept in its lane

What the lab work found—and what it cannot say

Gut research used cells and mice

Cell studies found KPV turned down the chemical signals that drive inflammation. Mouse studies of bowel inflammation found less inflammation and earlier weight recovery.

No person with bowel disease has been studied with KPV.

Preclinical

This word means research done before human clinical testing. It can support a next question, not a treatment claim.

Skin work used donated skin in a lab

In a lab test on donated human skin, KPV did not soak through unbroken skin in amounts that could be measured. It got in only when the skin was pricked with tiny needles or a weak electric current was used. FDA said this could limit how useful a KPV cream would be. That test did not use a living person and does not judge any product on the market.

Human tissue is not a human trial

A lab can use cells or donated tissue from people. The result still does not show what happens in a whole living person.

Safety record

The record is empty, not reassuring

No side effects in people are known, because FDA found no record of anyone taking it.

FDA reviewers also found no basic animal safety tests: none on harm from short-term or long-term use, and none on damage to genes, effects on pregnancy, or cancer risk.

They could not rule out three problems: the body’s defence system reacting against KPV, KPV molecules sticking together in clumps, or unwanted extra substances (impurities) in a batch. Those are possible risks, not harms already observed in people.

Open the safety assessment

The FDA staff report brings together its search for anyone who took KPV, the missing animal safety tests, and possible quality problems.

What changed, and what did not

Request taken back

Not a clearance

KPV sits in the nominated-but-withdrawn group on FDA's page, which was last updated April 22, 2026. A pharmacy group had asked FDA to let pharmacies use KPV, then withdrew that request. The page keeps the FDA’s concern about missing human data beside it.

FDA staff review

A proposal against adding it

In July 2026, FDA staff reviewed KPV for proposed use in skin creams or gels and proposed that it not be added to FDA’s list of raw ingredients that pharmacies may use to make medicines to order.

Advisory meeting

No official vote record found

An FDA advisory committee met on July 23 and July 24, 2026. As of September 28, 2026, FDA had published no minutes, transcript, or record of its votes.

Current meaning

The legal test did not change

As of September 2026, taking back the request did not make KPV an approved or cleared medicine, and it did not by itself let pharmacies mix KPV into medicines.

Check the clinician

Look up the medical board in whichever state you will be sitting in during the visit. Look for a current licence and whether the board has ever officially disciplined that clinician.
